UNY Hosted A Pre-Departure Briefing For IISMA Awardees to METU Turkey

Thursday, September 30th, 2021, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a Pre-departure Briefing for IISMA Awardees to Middle East Technical University (METU) Turkey. The event was attended by Dionnisius E. Swasono (Political Function of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Ankara, Turkey), Prof. dr. Aris Junaidi, Ph.D. (Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education), Junaidi, S.S., M.A (Chairman of Sub Pokja IISMA), Dr. eng. R. Rachmat Sri A. Wijaya, S.T., M.T. (Vice Chairman of Sub Pokja IISMA), University Leaders, representatives of the International Office and 26 IISMA Awardees to METU Turkey from 18 universities in Indonesia. UNY sent 1 student named Afkari Zulaiha Rahmadiani, IISMA awardee from Geography Education Study Program , Faculty of Social Sciences .

This event began with a brief introduction about UNY presented by the Vice-Rector for Planning and Cooperation , Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO. In his speech, he said that UNY is currently promoting internationalization. He hopes that UNY can build more international cooperation, one of which is through the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

The event continued with remarks from the Rector of UNY, represented by the Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Dr. Lantip Diat Prasojo, S.T., M.Pd. He hoped that the awardees could bring good impact to the nation as well as bring benefits to their host universities and to Indonesia.

In line with Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni Affairs of UNY, Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Prof. Aris Junaidi in his speech expressed his hope that IISMA Awardees would protect the name of the nation, devote themselves, and take advantage of the momentum to experience the remarkable academic environment in Turkey.

The Pre-Departure Briefing was rounded off with a sharing and discussion session with the Political Function of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Ankara, Turkey, Mr. Dionnisius E. Swasono and Ms. Ika Silalahi from the Consular Office of the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara. They both emphasized that the Awardees are ambassadors of the nation so that they are expected to always maintain the good name of Indonesia while studying in Turkey. At the end of the meeting, Junaidi as Chairman of Sub Pokja IISMA advised students to always maintain good health and keep strict health protocols before, during, and while arriving in Turkey later.
