Program Overview

What is the DARMASISWA Scholarship?

DARMASISWA is a prestigious one-year non-degree scholarship program offered by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. After a hiatus since 2024, the program is proudly reopening in 2026.

It is exclusively designed to foster international understanding and cultural exchange by inviting youth from countries with diplomatic ties to Indonesia to deeply immerse themselves in Indonesian language (BIPA), arts, music, and crafts.

The UNY Advantage

Why choose UNY and Yogyakarta?

By selecting Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), you are not just attending a university; you are living inside a vibrant museum of Javanese heritage. Yogyakarta is globally recognized as the cultural capital of Indonesia and the ultimate "City of Students."

  • Cultural Epicenter: Located minutes away from Royal Palaces, ancient artisan villages, and UNESCO World Heritage sites like Borobudur and Prambanan.
  • World-Class Faculty: Learn directly from master artisans, professional dancers, and leading linguistic experts in UNY's highly decorated Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture.
  • Immersive Campus Life: Engage daily with a massive, welcoming local student body eager to share their culture and language with you.
